First ECSA Aquatic Working Group meeting

The newly formed ECSA Aquatic Ecosystem and Citizen Science Working Group is set to have its first meeting on 7 November 2024. If you're interested in joining and helping shape the group’s activities and outcomes, you are encouraged to register in advance for the meeting. The group aims to meet every two months, bringing together a diverse community of experts in citizen science from both the freshwater and marine sectors.

What has been learned over the course of the project from upscaling and Europeanising a citizen science campaign to 13 European countries?
What kind of lessons can be drawn for local, regional, national and European public engagement, for combatting plastic waste pollution, for supporting citizen science initiatives, and for the European Research Area as a whole?

Our new strategic plan outlines concrete steps to get us there. AAPS members have always been at the forefront of innovations in the participatory sciences. Hasta el 31 de marzo de 2024, puedes presentar una propuesta para integrar el programa del Foro. Llega la cuarta edición del Foro Abierto de Ciencias de América Latina y el Caribe, que tendrá lugar en San Andrés Isla, Colombia, del 21 al 23 de octubre de 2024.
Considerado el hub regional de la ciencia, la tecnología y la innovación, CILAC es una plataforma para debatir, planificar y monitorear políticas eficaces con la meta de alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Agenda 2030. Enfocado en el concepto central de “Ciencia que dialoga” en su cuarta edición, el Foro CILAC 2024 será un espacio en el que gobiernos, universidades, empresas, investigadores, sociedad civil y medios podrán debatir, planificar y monitorear la integración de la ciencia, la tecnología y la innovación para el desarrollo sostenible en América Latina y el Caribe.
Colombia será país anfitrión de este encuentro internacional, que a su vez será accesible desde todo el mundo vía streaming.

Belgian Citizen Science Inspiration and Networking Event 2024

On September 12, Scivil organizes a Citizen Science Inspiration and Networking Day which will take place at Lamot in Mechelen. This year, we are organising the networking day in collaboration with FARO, Histories, and the AfricaMuseum. Similar to the previous edition, you can expect an inspiring opening panel, a series of interesting talks and workshops covering various aspects of citizen science, and a pleasant networking lunch, this time with a poster session. We offer many fascinating citizen science sessions on themes such as working with the media, inclusion and diversity, how to start with citizen science, and practical examples from health research and social sciences. This edition we also put an extra spotlight on the heritage sector. Within heritage there is a long tradition of collaboration with volunteers, whether or not in the form of citizen science. Through the collaboration with FARO, Histories and the AfricaMuseum, we want to ensure inspiring cross-pollination between citizen science and heritage.
Sessions take place in Dutch and English. The programme offers sessions for beginners in citizen science as well as for experienced initiators looking for more depth.
Participation is free. Are you registered, but can't come? Let us know as soon as possible and avoid a no-show fee (50 EUR).

Em setembro de 2024, o I Encontro Brasileiro de Ciência Cidadã visa dar início a um processo de consolidação do campo da ciência cidadã no país, dentro das missões e objetivos estipulados pela RBCC (www.rbcc.ong.br), e discutir de forma estratégica e democrática quais os rumos desse campo de pesquisa e de prática no Brasil.

II Jornada de Ciencia Ciudadana Ciencia en la Calle

La Asociación de Vecinos de Huete y pedanías y la Asociación de vecinos de Valdemoro se han unido para celebrar la II Jornada de Ciencia Ciudadana «Ciencia en la Calle» en colaboración con el Ayuntamiento de Huete.
Se trata de un evento a desarrollar en algunas pedanías y en Huete para atraer y acercar a niños, jóvenes y demás población el mundo científico y la ciencia en sus aspectos más cotidianos. Es un evento de divulgación científica. El próximo Sábado 3 de Agosto se celebrará en Huete, en la plaza de Fray Ambrosio Montesino entre las 11:00 y las 14:00. Es el segundo año consecutivo que se celebra esta actividad y esperamos que sea del gusto y del interés de todos.
En Verdelpino de Huete se van a desarrollar los talleres en la mañana del 10 de Agosto.
